On January 20, 1996, three young women in Varginha, Brazil encountered something crouching in a vacant lot in the Jardim Andere neighborhood. They described a humanoid creature with oily brown skin, large red eyes, and a hunched posture unlike anything they'd ever seen. The Brazilian military allegedly intervened within hours, transporting the being to a regional hospital and later to the University of Campinas. Officials denied everything. The city now commemorates the event with a UFO-shaped water tower.
